This was spotted today in a collection of studio pottery, a rare find indeed, a pottery Codd with a coloured lip (no point putting a coloured marble in it):D!I remember a few of these floating about some time ago all emanating from West Wales, was the source ever discovered, I don,t think they were meant to deceive, just a piece of studio pottery, but there again maybe:w00t:!

Described as a piece of studio pottery is a bit of an unfair misnomer banjo..... these were very cheaply mass produced slip cast items - made in their thousands (for pence) for the retail market - emanated from the Midlands (source known).
One has even surfaced in Australian causing some consternation & excitement - believing it to be something it really isn't.
Sooooooooo simple to make, & every now & then one of our 'fold' decides such is worth prchasing as a mere 'novelty'/ conversation point.
Who am I to besmirch such creations.... perhaps I should retread my steps and beign mass producing copies of all our 'classics'.
Off the soapbox - hope it was left there?
