Picked up this lovely 2g Swansea Flagon this evening in London. Super condition with loads of heat bubbles from the original kiln firing. Long way away from its Swansea home...

H J Watkeys, 2 Castle Square, Swansea

Any of the Swansea collectors know anything about it?

Cheers

Looks a lovely, early and crude flagon.

There is a Henry J. Watkeys trading as a wine and spirit merchant and importer, based in the vaults of Castle Square around the 1830s. He sold his business in 1839.

Wanted; Aberavon/Port Talbot and Afan valley bottles. Neath, Swansea, Maesteg and Briton Ferry Ginger Beers.

Now that is an early flagon with character, heat bumps and all:D!I have one in the same style and age from Cardiff, which turned up in Devon, they certainly do travel.

Thanks Betts. Did not think it was that early as such great condition.
