You can still find those items if you perservere, today was a good day. It did not start out that way as this ill informed P---k pulled out his smart phone to check on the price of a twist box I was selling, I politely told him to P--s off and google elsewhere, what is the matter with these Nupptys:D!So I decided to leave my Pumphouse stall and and do a Cardiff mooch, perhaps that Nuppty brought me good luck, here,s the results.
First off a pair of Rhondda Valley Hop Bitters, by two different potters, come on you Welshys, which is which.

Then these two paper Adverts, the lion one is a little distressed but lovely graphics, and "Irish Whiskey at 3/3d. a bottle:w00t:!

Canton made on the right Cyril? Bristol made on the left? Nice ads too, especially the lion pictorial.

By the way, I can just see the canton mark on one ginger!:D

Canton made stuff can be a bit dubious on occasion, but they do also have good days. The champagne with collar is quite an attractive shape. This one was made on a very good day. :)

I havnt seen that one before Andy, rough or otherwise.:) My Favorite white standard ginger was Canton made and its not a bad job. The brown top is via agent J A Bailey Swansea, so made by Pearson Whittington Moor. :)

If there was a medal for the ugliest G.B. Andy, that "Rhondda valley" standard would take it:D! It does have a certain charm though:)! In its day Canton was one of the roughest areas in Cardiff, and Priests pottery was in the middle of it, so it looks like he was drawing on the local workforce. He is listed in the directorys as a Pipe maker, and the remains of one of his Kilns can still be seen in Canton car park. His supply of local clay came from Culverhouse some two miles away to the West and was inconsistent in its quality, a lot of his bottles have more warts than a toad, as well as furnace blow holes.
He changed his clay supply, in C.1900 to the Rumney levels, some two miles to the East, which was of far better quality for bottles. He also seems to have sharpened up his act on the transfers as some of the later bottles will testify.

It would be interesting to see who he supplied G.B.s to, outside of South Wales. Any takers?

That's a decent bit of research about the clay Cyril and would help to date some of the gingers. Its also an interesting question about Canton gingers with English users.
