I picked up a 2oz poison (I collect 2oz poisons) with "MADE IN JAPAN" on the bottom. It looks old though and is a 3 piece mould. It looks just like a normal hexagonal cobalt blue NTBT poison but with "MADE IN JAPAN" on the bottom. Any ideas if this is genuine or how it can be genuine?...can't think of a reason for faking a common hexagonal blue poison. Must be a story behind it somewhere.

Watch my poison / berkshire gb collections grow:

Still after an ordinary 2oz green round Saunders poison from Liverpool: Either variation will do !!

They copy anything that sells, doesn't have to be expensive, cheap items are better, knock em out by the thousand, and sell em for cheap just as fast, and people don't complain, cheap is cheap, doesn't give much room for complaint, that's the idea, and then people can't be bothered and just move on and take the small hit instead,

Everytime you see an old bottle, on a filmset, middle class windowsill, etc, it ain't always going to be old,

Purple Horners creams in boxes for a fiver each, and bloody good too, that was the eye opener for me,

Would like to see this poison,

Here's some pictures:

Even the glass has the occasional bubble.....it looks exactly the right age to be genuine!!!

Hold on there, Ive dug japanese made bottles on 20's tips, its not unheard of.

One in particular is Morse Indian Pills in the little brown bottles.

This could easily be a bottle from that period and easily have made the journey when the UK used to have an empire. I would not call it without knowing more.

Is it a machine made lip or tooled. If it is tooled I would guess genuine, it would not be worth manufacturing fakes for a bottle of this value.

Nothing wrong with this is my opinion , probably a bottle made for the Aussie market .there are also poisons like this with Japanese writing on them known

Whoa, steady on, don't panic ! These aren't fakes, they are collected, especially do well in the USA. Date to around 1900 onwards up to about the 1930's.

Wanted --- any unusual items from Kent & the South East, including advertising, early stoneware, & bottles (of course!).  Also rare patent poisons, early pontilled medicines, & rare burst lip/teakettle inks.

They are very frequent finds over here and in Aus. Only blue though. The better ones are side embossed in huge letters on the reverse side to the NTBT wording. I have had several and will find a pic of the side embossed types. They are applied lips and certainly genuine.

Veni Vidi Velcro. I came I saw I stuck around.

Just to be clear, it is an applied lip and there is a slight fault in the lip, some slight striations in the neck, and there is some wear to the bottle as though it has been dug and if not dug, then certainly used quite a bit. The more I look at the bottle, them more I believe it is of the period. When something is fake, your thought processes tend to go the other way......the more you look at it, the more you believe it is fake!

From all of the comments as well and looking closely at the quality of the glass, I am pretty sure it must be genuine.

Thank you so much for all of your help on this.
