What's the consensus on this bottle ? Can it be an ink bottle. It measures 1.75 inches square and is 2.50 inches high. Fancy design around all sides and also on the base. It is a smokey grey colour.

Any idea on origin.

Personally I think it is, but obviously far too ornate to be one of the cheapies (burst lips etc) that are generally more popular as collectables, but probably a table top ink that may have sat in a set or on a stand. The colour is certainly not how it started life and is probably courtesy of one of those American dealers who cook all their glass stock into different colours, many of them ending up with a 'smoky' hue.

Veni Vidi Velcro. I came I saw I stuck around.

Could it be that this round one is from the same company. The design is similar. Does anybody know anything about these ? They look like they could date from the twenties to thirties.

I don't know if its any help, but I used to dig smokey grey codds on a late 20's tip, so it could date to that era?
