I need to find out as much information on this particular bottle as possible. It dated to the early 20th century around 1900, from around the Lichfield and Cannock area.
It is a stoneware bottle commonly used for Ginger beers at the time.
Any information on the label and John Simms, Ginger beer brewing and stoneware bottles around the early 20th century would be fantastic.
Many Thanks :)

Not one I've seen before but I wonder if it was any relation to Alfred Simms mineral water maker from Walsall.

The company started around 1840 in Lichfield a prolific and long lived company in the local area
they used stone gingers right up until the very late 1920s. Every tip within 10 miles of lichfield
from the 1880s until the 1950s contains large amounts of simms bottles including Hamiltons, codds, gingers, beers, and a wide variety
of other minerals but unfortunately all very plainly embossed.

1st post is a general advert running it seems from 1887 to 1890, 1st pic zoomed in 2nd pic to show date 1888

2nd post is a for sale advert, but the premises were obviously not taken (wording as per ad) due to other dated ads still stating the church street address up to 10 years later after all it is only an advert, 1st pic zoomed in 2nd pic to show date 1879

4th post, I think the best one, 1st pic zoomed in 2nd pic to show date 1886, and is proof of the link as mentioned earlier of John simms lichfield, and a simms and son walsall, no mention of cannock, but I'm not local so don't know why that might be,

All from British newspaper archive, a months subscription should get you through everything I could see, only around £13 I think,

Can I ask your connection or why the interest Harry ?

click a link below please, shows offenders images, see if you can spot anyone who may have tried to reinvent themself as someone else near you, putting those around you in danger as long as they are unknown, could be closer to you than you think, these type of people dont disclose, they do whatever they can to hide their past, but they are still the same, you could change someones life.

I have come across the John Simms stoneware bottle in a collection at a small university museum, i have an assignment in which i must formally catalogue the item create a label and a case for it within the museum, so your contribution has been absolutely fantastic, thank you!

I don't know to any pictures of labels for the Simms bottles but they were obviously oval in shape on the codds and other minerals so they probably used the same shape for the stone gingers.
