Picked this up today, I bought it because of its shape and size and loved the iridescence. Could anyone give me any more information on the bottle.

No worries Steve. Very nice to see you buying some early glass as i know you purchased and onion recently as well. The Mallet is early 18th century to early mid 18th century and Mark will be spot on with the date as i may get it a little wrong and if you ask him or if he comes across your post he will probably be able to date it for you and possibley a value. If it was me i would leave the iridescents on the bottle rather than cleaning it right up. Kindest regards Wayne.

What an astonishing bottle , handled this in the flesh today! Very nice , couldn't believe quite how small it was and what magnificent condition it was in, has made me want to add a few bits of early glass to the collection!

Interesting...that's what so many arexsaying now...
Nice small mallet by the way, this one is nice with it's definitive tapered true mallet sides, and is a good form. The lighter colour and the uptooled lip point to a Northern English glassworks, and comes from a small group of bottles that all bear these quite distinctive features, in comparison to say Bristol made versions.
The iridescence of course is something that is becoming not only more acceptable but actually looked for. A good iridescent example now comanding the interets and price of a good mint example.
It's about 1730 by the way.

Hi Steve.

Would love to see a picture of your onion on here if you get time and how tall was the Mallet wine bottle. Kindest regards Wayne.:P
