| The fishing float certainly looks old, pity there isn't a fishing float forum to be able to dip into! From what we know about bottles I would say its certainly of an age. Picked up some great bargains today, but my house is in absolute turmoil at the moment (LOTS of work about to commence) so it's not convenient to take photos... pontilled plain medicine, pontilled (?) ultility, a few c1830-1850 stoneware, cobalt Staffords ink pourer, all dead cheap... quid or less. My favourite buy was an old book which was a quid so I bought it without looking as I thought it looked late 1700's.... it is dated 1687!

Nice float Dave. These glass floats were used across Europe from the mid to late 1800's up to the 1950's. My dad used to pick them up after storms up until the late seventies, I have talked to a few people that have said they have found them over the last few years still being washed up, I've never found one though.
My parants collect them and have around 30/40, mainly in different colours and embossing. They go very well on the US eBay, I sold an aqua one embossed with an anchor a few years ago for over $400!

| Not sure about these two items which I 'found' at a one off car boot sale during the weekend. I paid £3.50 for them, shoud have gave more as it was a charity event. What exactly were these large stoneware bottles for? Gin perhaps. It was manufactured in Rotterdam. Or are they for mineral waters? Any info would be most welcome. The Chinese jar is hand painted porcelain and obviously fairly old. I think it could be a lot older that it looks, again any info would be fantastic Lodzaglass

Always interested in Irish Gingers/Stouts/Codds Also anything from Clitheroe Lancashire. Especially the S.Speak ginger. Greyhound pictorial. www.timewithphotos.com
