hi pete,

great to see that early button codd opener again, think you purchased it from me found in a tin of buttons at a carboot sale and saved from being thrown away.

If it was you who put it on ebay, then yes.and thanks once more for doing so.

Here's one - as far as I know there aren't any others recorded.

Embossed HODGSON'S / MINERAL WATERS / BEDFORD STREET / COVENT GARDEN, and acid etched PAUL between lines 1 and 2 - presumably re-used by N Paul and Co.

And while I'm here, I might as well find out whether there are many more of these about - I've yet to see another...

Merry Xmas to all!

Never seen another bottle by this firm, Smith Brothers, Botanic Brewers, Leicester & Hinckley.
It could be a local shop I have a postcard of, which was situated opposite 'Queens Works',
the building I believe was used by Southams who also had Leicester & Hinckley on their bottles.
More research to do still.

J.M.Cooper GB
Only GB known of from Earl Shilton, Leicestershire.
Dug by myself in 1981 (still at school!) My first GB and I swapped it within a week for a globe codd and a whites lid!
Never even seen a fragment of another. J M Cooper was James Mawby Cooper, he appears on the 1891 census
and his family are heavily involved in the pub trade.

Ultra rare steam engine pictorial slab seal GB from the firm of JC Boardman,Blackburn, c1870.Boardman`s was a small corner shop on Bolton Rd.,Blackburn.The shop was demolished c1880 and a church was built on the land.
Only known example with not even a fragment of another one been found.
